Torch and Keystone Clubs
Torch Club Logo
A TORCH CLUB is a small group of Club members ages 11 to 13. It involves at least six, but not more than fifteen members in programs and activities agreed upon, developed and implemented by the Torch Club members. Each Torch Club is chartered annually through application to Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Torch Clubs meet a minimum of twice a month. An assigned Club staff member or volunteer serves as an advisor to the group.
Keystone Club Logo
A KEYSTONE CLUB is a group of Club members ages 14 and older. It involves at least eight, but not more than fifteen members, its own officers (who carry on the business of the Keystone Club), an adult advisor (who provides the necessary support and guidance the Keystone Club needs). Keystone Clubs are concerned with service to the Boys & Girls Club and community, unity, leadershipdevelopment, education, career development, free enterprise, and social recreation.
Torch Club and Keystoning are a vital means of providing the youth development strategy to young members and teens. The clubs offer a sense of belonging, as a special unique organization by and specifically for young people and teens. Developing a "A Sense of Usefulness" is a vital part of Torch Clubs and Keystoning. These clubs develop members through service activities to the Boys & Girls Club and local community. The Torch Club and National TEENSupreme Keystone Projects and other regional/national events and activities help Torch Clubs and Keystones understand they can have national significance and input. Torch Clubs and Keystoning develops competencies by providing the opportunities to plan, implement, and review activities and events, as well as the specific competencies imparted by the activity or event (e.g. planning and carrying out a visit to a college/university admissions office and financial aid office; revitalizing and reclaiming a community park etc.). Finally Torch Clubs and Keystone CLubs provide a sense of influence for members of the Torch and Keystone Clubs; they decide what they want to do and when they want to do it, with the adult advisor′s guidance. Advisors provide the framework for the program. Torch Club members and Keystoners are the voice, the heart, body, and soul for leadership development within the local branches. The Torch Club and Keystone Club movement is designed to develop Club leaders.
