School–Year Club Enrollment Continues to Climb
Fall 2013
Club parents have learned what Club staff already know: when the school year starts, the Club fills up quick! By the end of September enrollment was already over 300, and daily attendance was regularly at 180 to 190 kids. Once daily attendance goes over 200, the Club will institute its membership cap.
″We can′t safely take more than 200 a day,″ said Club Director Tim Brurud. ″It′s a good problem to have, because we are seeing the kids who come on a regular basis. We can make a real difference in their lives.″ Statistics from Havre Public Schools show that Club members who attend Power Hour regularly are 10–20% more likely to pass standardized tests in reading and math. Club kids also learn important life skills in every center in the Club, from good sportsmanship in the gym to internet safety in the Technology Center. ″With our building expansion, we′ll be able to raise the cap and provide these opportunities to even more kids,″ said Tim.
